Our Story

Amber and I met by chance on the Ponte Vecchio. She had left Zimbabwe where she was born and raised to take a degree in Design. I had left London after I graduated in Philosophy to work in Florence.

Since that time we have aligned our common love for space and what we could do in that space in Zimbabwe where we continue to be struck by the outstanding beauty of nature in all its majesty and by the soul of the people. It occurred to us that there were areas in society which felt to us, in need of an ode, of joy.

By spending a great deal of time working outdoors on family design projects, Amber had a natural outlet for her creative ways of seeing things, this has been instrumental in her approach to our projects in Zimbabwe.

Once we piloted three small projects in Matabeleland working with stakeholders and teachers we began to research how we might, with future funding take our ideas to other areas on the fringes of society in Zimbabwe. Our long term plan is to grow Obambulo, our philosophically inspired design charity outside the home of its birth.
